Congrats to the Doctors and Nurses from Trauma Unit in Royal Hospital Belfast on raising a £900 through sponsorship for Spinal Injuries N.I. at last months Belfast marathon. These funds will be going towards specialized equipment for those with Spinal Injuries. Well done!

Larne Linn Road Co-op

Spinal Injury Northern Ireland would like to thank staff and customers of Larne Linn Road Co-op for collecting a fantastic amount of £1638 through the Local Community Fund. Receiving the presentation check from the Co-op staff is Sp.I.N.I. Sec & Public Affairs Officer Donna Mc Cormick. This will go towards much needed equipment for those with spinal Injuries.

We finally got together for a photo with Seamus Lee from ‘Total Training’ Carnlough, who gave us an amazing amount of £3298.00 collected from two functions ‘The Triathlon in Glenarm’ by Seamus himself and ‘The Biggest Looser’ guys a few months ago. Ultimate Car Show

Big thanks to Kevin Haveron and all the team at The Ultimate Car Show and Sponsors for yet another successful Show on Sunday. The three charity’s Larne Adult Centre, PIPS an SpiNI all received £1859 each. Thanks to Kieran Mc Killop and Martin Magill for the entertainment during the show. Congrats to The Ultimate car show for 10 years of the event. A lot of time and effort was put into the running of the show, especially as some of them had just after giving up their week helping out at The Circuit of Ireland Rally. Thanks to all involved

New Years Day Swim

'Blast from the past'

Collecting a massive cheque of £2500 from proceeds of 'The Ultimate Car Show' Sp.I.N.I members Tracey Mc Grogan & Lucy O'Dornan Steele are pictured with one of the sponsors of the Event Richard McCartney. Thanks to Leanne Mcdonnell , Liza Haveron Kevin Haveron and the rest of the crew who helped organise Larnes largest annual motor event. This was the third time our charity has benefited from the event.

This is a photo of all the equipment owned by Spinal Injuries N.I which consists of 26 motomeds, 3 hoists and shower chairs. We have been going now for 3 ½ years and have raised a whopping £95,000 which has helped 100’s of patients in the form of specialized exercise equipment, adaptation’s in their homes and the Social Event Scheme. Massive thanks to everyone who contributed and helped raise funds as past 3 years. We are overwhelmed with the support you have given our wee charity.

Friends of Spinal Injuries Ni are welcome to join McKay's Optometrists to help celebrate their 75th Anniversary on Fri 12th April. Guest appearance with Ben Glover from 10.30am - 12.30, coffee cupcakes and music. McKay's will make a donation of £5 to Spinal Injuries Ni for any Eye examinations booked on Friday 12th (which takes place up to and including 30th April)

Instead of Brendan having a birthday party with presents for himself, had donations to our charity instead. We would like to thank Brendan, his family and all his guests and to ‘Big T’’s Discos for a great night where they raised a massive £600 for Sp.I.N.I.

Massive thanks and congratulations to everyone to took part in our Sponsored Skydive. 13 very brave men and women jumped to the challenge and helped rise over £3500 for Sp.I.N.I This money will help purchase much needed specialised equipment for those with life changing spinal injuries. There has been a lot of interest over the last few weeks enquiring if we would be having another jump later in the year, so if anyone wanting to have a go let us know and we’ll keep you posted. hike across the Antrim Hills

Many thanks to the 24 ramblers who hiked across the Antrim Hills in aid off spinal injuries Northern Ireland today. £300 was raised for the charity which will go towards equipment for those with spinal injuries.

Edinburgh marathon

Would like to thank and congratulate Gary Patterson, Robert McKay and Keith Wills for running the Edinburgh marathon for S.p.I.N.I today. Also a big thanks to all who support the lads during the last few weeks and who went over with them. They have raised a wopping £4000 for the charity, which will go towards much needed post rehabilitation equipment for those with spinal injuries. Well done lads!

Waterfall bar Carnlough

Another successful night in aid of Sp.I.N.I. Saturday 19th December in the Waterfall bar Carnlough, was the latest venue for the charity to help raise funds for spinal injuries. An auction and a ballot and was kindly organised by the ladies of st. Johns Camogie Club. Many thanks to everyone involved, who donated the prizes and to Mr Willy ‘Rock-star’ Magill who provided the entertainment on the evening.

Bingo at the Station

Larne’s Station Bar hosted a very successful charity bingo & disco evening on Sunday 22nd November. The ever humorous Mr Gary Bergin Called the bingo. Numbers were followed by Gary’s own `made up phrases’ which entertained the crowd. Daniel’s Disco’s supplied the evening entertainment which saw punters dance the night away. A very respectable £300 was raised for the charity which continues to raise funds for the spinal injured.

'White Collar Boxing'

Sp.I.N.I would like to thank Tracey Mc Grogan., all the pupils and teachers from St. Killians College for their extremely kind donation of £1000 which was raised from their Christmas fare. This will help to provide specialised equipment for those with spinal injuries.

We had a great day with clothes stall at the All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships. Thanks to Tracey who helped out, and everyone who called in.

A number of our members have asked us for donations buckets/jars for loose change in shops, pubs etc. So we have invested in more and are ready for use. ‘Hadrian's Wall Path’

‘Hadrian's Wall Path’. Congrats to three members of the Keown family - Kathy Keown, Roisin Kennedy and Mags Hylands on their 25 mile trek along Hadrian's Wall in aid of Sp.I.N.I. The wall has been standing since 2nd century AD. The wall spans from Wallsend on the east, through the picturesque countryside to Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast.

Ulster Farmers Union and Gleno Valley Young Farmers Club

Many thanks to Larne Ulster Farmers Union and Gleno Valley Young Farmers Club who held a function which was named 'a not so Young Farmers Dance' in aid of SPINI at Larne Rugby Club. A great amount of £670 was raised for the charity which will go towards much needed specialised equipment for those with spinal injuries

Congrats to Antoinette Ramsey and Frank McGoran from Larne who took part in the Dublin Half-marathon on 17th Sept. 2011. Together they raised an impressive £520 for Spinal Injuries Northern Ireland. The proceeds will go towards much need Rehabilitation equipment for those with spinal injuries.

On Sunday 28th August a group of cyclists hit some of the toughest roads in Northern Ireland – a lap of Lough Neagh.
The charity event, which raised raising funds for Sp.I.N.I is
over 80 miles long and started and finished again at
Maghery Country Park.

Big thanks to everyone who attended the fashion show held in Mc Neil theatre, Larne last night. Also to Larne Rugby club for organizing the event.

'climb Kilimanjaro'

Congratulations to the four men from Larne who went on one of ‘Spinal Injuries Northern Irelands’ most Ambitious fund-raising challenges to date, to climb Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. The lads Paul, Gary and Lee Bergin along with Daniel Hegarty left for Tanzania on the 8th July to start the five-day trek. This photo was sent from Africa today.

tour de Glens cycle run

A massive thanks to all who took part, and helped in the tour de Glens cycle run today for Spinal Injuries Northern Ireland. 11 keen cyclists faced the elements of wind and rain but battled on to complete the gruelling 50 mile trek. The cyclists started in Glenarm, towards Cushendall, then on to Martinstown, and back to Glenarm via Broughshane. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Ballygally Community Development Association

Spinal Injuries Northern Ireland would like to thank to Ballygally Community Development Association for their kind donation of £250. The money was raised at a function run by the group on Saturday 14th Feb in the Halfway House Hotel.

Christmas draw

What a night? Sp.I.N.I would like to thank all who supported the Christmas draw. A big thanks to all that bought and helped in the selling of tickets, those who donated prizes, and The Glengloy inn for hosting the event, A massive £3000 was raised for charity to help improve the lives of those who suffer from spinal injuries. Congratulations to all who won prizes, check out all winners on our web!

Quiz nights at the Meeting House

Tuesday 13th saw one of the largest Quiz nights that the Meeting House has held in Cairncastle and this was arranged by Cairncastle Community Association.Target for the evening was to support local man Peter Steele, who was seriously injured in a freak car accident last spring, and his new charity Sp.I.N.I (Spinal Injury Northern Ireland) to raise funds for rehabilitation equipment. On the night, 27 teams battled for honours in the fun quiz prepared by Beverly and Dave. The Meeting House supplied the winning table prizes to Dickystown. A magnificent sum of £1210 was handed over to Peter towards his Charity’s target of purchasing rehabilitation equipment.

Carnlough Lions club

Another successful night for Sp.I.N.I. 13th November saw one of the largest Fun Quizzes for the Carnlough Lions club. The Glencloy Inn hosted the Event which saw 20 teams fight for first place, questions were prepared by Mr Bernard Black from Carnlough’s Branch of the Organisation. Champions of the evening were `CAMM`. The proceeds of the fund raising event went to the charity Sp.I.N.I. An amazing sum of over £1200 was presented to Peter Steele, founder of the charity – who has a spinal injury himself. Many thanks to The Glencloy Inn, the Lions club members, those who supplied prizes and goods and all those who supported the event with their generosity.
